Saturday Snapshot: A ‘mater for my mater

I promised Jennifer at Books, Personally that I would post a picture of my amigurumi tomato, so here it is in all its splendor.  After I finally got past the 4 stitch cast on with douple-pointed needles, it was a breeze.  My mom’s a farmer, gardener, tomato canner extrordinaire, so I’ll be giving her this for Mother’s Day tomorrow.  This pattern is from the book Amigurumi Knits by Hansi Singh.

If you’re hopping by from Saturday Snapshot, hosted by At Home With Books, feel free to check out my new hop, Blog In Place.

  1. Very cool! I admire anyone who can knit. I don't seem to have the patience for it…or something.

    Here's my snapshot: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/05/saturday-snapshot-may-7.html

  2. Very cute. I don't have a creative bone in my body, yet my daughter is a self taught knitter with (2) published books….go figure.

  3. That's cool – I've never heard of amigurumi before.

  4. I am so envious of all crafty people. My friend tried to teach me to knit once and hours later threw up her hands in frustration. She had to admit I was unteachable!

  5. Haha, love it!! Nice job on the knitting too.

  6. Bev, I think my pig-headed-ness definitely comes in handy in regards to knitting.

Diane, how very cool that your daughter has 2 knitting books. You must be very proud. It's funny, I don't know if I think of knitting as creative, though you certainly are creating things. Mostly at this stage I'm following patterns, which is someone else's creativity.

Alyce, I have many helpful knitting friends who introduced me to amigurumi, though I still cannot really pronounce it or spell it reliably.

Angie, oh surely not unteachable, but I certainly felt very stupid when I was learning and my friend had to tell me over and over again what to do.

    Mary, thanks!
