I thought maybe for National Poetry Month I would have a poem for every day of the month. Not doing so well on Day Three, but there’s something to be said for the persistent starter. So I’m trying again today. Here’s something in the William Carlos Williams vein.
The pileated woodpecker
On campus this morning
Sounded like a hammer
Echoing between
The empty buildings
The students
With their headphones on
Didn’t hear.
Check out the site for National Poetry Month with lots of great ideas for how to celebrate.
